A New Sonic a New Story
On a quest for world domination Sonic nemesis Dr. Eggman has managed to steal the chaos emeralds once again and this time drained them of their power. As a result not only has the Earth split into distinct sections, so has Sonic. Now he is two beings. During the day he is the usual speed-addicted hedgehog players will remember, but at night he becomes Sonic the Werehog. In either form it is the player’s ultimate goal to find the missing chaos emeralds and return them to their proper place in order to set the world and Sonic himself, back the way he should be.
Like nearly all Sonic games, Sonic Unleashed is platform-based. The game combines the feel of 2D side-scrolling that fans of the Sonic series love, with sharp 3D graphics, and throws in an over the back third-person perspective reminiscent of FPS gameplay for good measure. And just as in earlier games, as players race through and explore the expansive world before them, using auto lock to hone in on enemies and areas of interest, they will rely on the power they gain from the rings they collect for a variety of things, but with the new twist of Sonic’s split personality, things are a little bit different. Playing during the day, as you race across the world in the form of Sonic, speed is the main goal. Collecting rings fills you with ‘Ring Energy,’ which not only provides extra life, but also the advantage of ‘Sonic Boost.’ With this players can travel at speeds that approximate 300 MPH. In addition, Sonic Unleashed introduces two new features: the ‘Speed Drift’ and the ‘Quick Step’. Speed Drifting is similar to drifting in racing games, allowing players to slide around corners at high speeds, while Quick Stepping is a sidestepping maneuver allowing Sonic to avoid enemies with quick steps to either side. Both keep you moving as fast as possible, so you can get as many rings as possible, which again keeps you moving as fast as possible. As night falls and Sonic assumes his Werehog form the rings provide a different kind of power more suited to his more menacing appearance. Much slower, but also much more powerful, the Werehog relies on the rings to provide life as well as strength to shield himself from the attacks of enemies. This is necessary because Werehog gameplay, although based in platforming, incorporates significant levels of combat as well. Red orbs gathered as enemies are defeated allow the player to unlock additional combo moves that will supplement the hack and slash and arm stretching abilities that the Werehog always possesses. Whether Hedgehog or Werehog, no matter which form players prefer they will get ample opportunity to explore the two sides of Sonic since each area in the game contains both night and day segments where each form must be played. Key Game Features:
- Sonic’s World Transformed - Sonic maintains his high-speed abilities during the day, but at night he is transformed into a mysterious dark form with incredible never-before-seen abilities including 3D-action brawling and amazing agility.
- Tight Navigation and Speed Control - Players accelerate to super speed with ‘Sonic Boost’ by collecting rings to increase Sonic’s ‘Ring Energy.’ Using ‘Quick Step,’ players will quickly move left or right to avoid obstacles instantly. Additionally, ‘Speed Drift’ allows players to rocket through turns without slowing down.
- Powerful New Engine and Cinematic Graphics - With its new modified game Engine, Sonic Unleashed enhances the classic 2D perspective with mind-blowing 3D stages. Other technology capabilities include global illumination, grid computing, continuous data streaming and an intricate path finding system.
- Enhanced and Expanded Environments - Many unique and fascinating continents offer the player an opportunity to save the world in a dynamic, high-speed experience. In addition to exploring exciting unlockable areas, players dash through up to nine locations resembling real-life destinations including the Great Wall of China, Arctic Pole glaciers and many more.
Whether it’s the updated graphics that retain the side-scrolling feel of classic games in the Sonic franchise, an expansive world to race through and explore or the multiple and new ways to play, Sonic Unleashed offers something for players of any age or level of ability.

4 Stars Sonic is back!
Like the title says, Sonic is finally back! I don’t care what any other negative reviewer out there might say, but this game is excellent! When I play this game, I feel like I’m playing one of the great Sonic’s from the Genesis alll over again.
The story is aight in it to. The way the story pans out and the cut-scenes look, things aren’t to far off from one of those 3D animated Disney flicks.
The game starts out a little slow. For some reason, they have you do like 10 missions where you learn the easily understood basics. Which means you’ll have to sit through all these loading screens to learn each separate starter move when you could learn them all in one single mission.
Loading is…okay. Each loading screen is about 5-10 seconds long and if you choose to restart from the pause menu during a mission, everything has to be re-loaded. This is different from some games where restarting is instant and without additional loading. So yea, if want to keep restarting that stage to get that 3rd moon/sun medal, be prepared to wait. You also have to wait about 2-3 seconds to load navigation menus once you’ve really gotten into the game. But outside of all that, it’s nothing that won’t drive you to insane.
The city parts seem a little meaningless. I don’t know, but these city parts where you talk to people seemed “there” to me. All you do is scroll through these bubbles with the words “NEW” over them and read what people say until one says some crap like, “Oh! That place you need to go is there!” and then after that’s been said, the day/night stage’s are unlocked. It’s still good to do the city parts since you can unlock extra songs/art work/movies from talking to the people and it’s also one of the main ways you get the tablets.
The sense of speed is great. I’ve never been a big stickler about mega fast speed, but I like how it feels very engaging to blast off into turbo through the loops and chain your attacks together without a pause in between.
The Wherehog parts seem to be in heavier supply, but they’re okay. I’m not far in the game, but I’ve only done maybe 3 daytime stages and like 10 nighttime ones. Though not necessarily slow, the where stages can be medium paced next to the daytime ones.
So far, I don’t feel to much of a challenge from these Where stages either. I’ve unlocked a few abilities and skill level ups, but nothing seems to hard. I never get the feeling that I can’t get away with running into a group of enemies and in turn receive no damage. The fighting is semi-deep, but I never feel engaged enough fighting the enemies. Perhaps since they come off so small and cuddly….
Daytime gameplay is solid though. Like I said before, the daytime stages really take me back to the old school Sonics. It’s a blast to collect the line of rings, shoot off in turbo, smack some enemies, and just keep on going. It’s a little difficult to get around corners smoothly sometimes with both sidestepping and drifting, but I’m sure that takes practice.
AH! I almost forgot….the music! I love the direction of music in this game. The music’s more orchestrated and lounge-esque than that other (imo) bad rock they were trying to work into the series from SA1 on. I like what they’ve done with it and I hope they begin to use this sound for the future Sonics.
But chea, great game. Way more fun and less overly forgiving than “Sonic Heroes” and a great distraction. If you’ve given up hope in Sonic, lift your head up and buy this!!
4 Stars Great Game, but Werehog stages a little slow
This is the newest Sonic game from Sega and in my opinion is the best Sonic game since the hedgehog’s Dreamcast days (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2). The daylight levels are great, tons of fun to play, the graphics throughout the game are gorgeous, and the game maintains it’s classic cartoon-ish feel including some fun humor throughout. This game has received some unfair reviews from critics, they say the werehog stages are dull, and slow. While they are slow, I do not find them boring at all. They are very combat oriented, similar to hack and slash style games. This is a new concept for Sonic the Hedgehog, and I think it’s nice to do something a little different from time to time. Is this the best Sonic game of all? No, but if you have always enjoyed Sonic games, then this one will be no exception.
5 Stars Enter the Werehog
This game is awesome and has become one of my most favorite Sonic titles. People have complained about the graphics, but they look fantastic! It’s not fair to compare it to the ps3 or 360 because the ps2 can’t handle it, so for what it got it’s excellent. Besides, it’s not graphics that make a game fun. Another complaint people have made is that there are too many werehog levels. I am having lots of fun playing as the werehog, I love platformers. When you play as regular Sonic, the levels are well crafted and loads of fun, and as the Werehog I have fun bashing enemies and exploring. The thing I love the most so far is the story. It’s crazy! And Chip is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen, I hope they make a plushie for him! Dr. Eggman is back to his evil self, and also has a lot of funny moments. I’ve seen Tails and Amy so far, but where is my favorite, Knuckles!? He takes forever to show up it seems. Also, I like how it’s not about ‘finding’ the chaos emeralds, but about ‘restoring’ them. Controls are the thing I was worried about the most (if you have experience with games like Shadow the Hedgehog -_-; ), but they work fine, just like they should. The only thing I’ve noticed is that there aren’t as many bosses as in previous games, but maybe I haven’t gotten all that far. Continent levels are also replayed quite a bit, but they vary each time, and the missions can be chanllenging. Highly recommended if you like your action with a bit of humor on the side.
5 Stars This game is fun and well made.
This is the version no one ever seems to talk about…the lowly PS2 port of Sonic Unleashed.
And, having never played the other versions, I must say I’m pretty impressed. Perhaps my lack of experience with the PS3 and Xbox versions allows me a truly unbiased perspective…allowing me to evaluate the PS2 on it’s own merit. And, it has a lot of merit.
The daytime speed levels are really fun. Never before has a sonic game truly captured the feeling of BEING Sonic the hedgehog. Phases melt seamlessly into each other as first person perspective shifts to side view to front view and back. These levels have mastered the concept of “flow” that the original Genesis Sonic games made famous.
What many people don’t seem to realize is that the controversial night levels (featuring Sonic the Werehog) are just as reminiscent of the old Genesis games as the daytime levels. NONE of the original 16-bit Sonic games was 100% speed. In fact, a large fraction of the average Sonic zone was PLATFORMING. And, that is precisely what the werehog levels offer. Platforming, puzzles, and some Streets of Rage style beat ‘em up action. If games like God of War and Heavenly Sword can receive widespread acclaim, I don’t see why the werehog levels should offend anyone…because they’re the same thing.
Plus, the werehog levels provide balance for the frenetic pace of the speed levels. Just as the original 16-bit Sonic games were balanced between speed and platforming, Sonic Unleashed is balanced between daytime levels and night levels. This is nothing new people. I don’t see why the official game reviews are so bothered by a concept introduced by Sonic the Hedghog 1: “balance”.
The levels (both day time and night time) are well designed and engaging. Victory is very satisfying. Werehog levels, while slower than the speed levels, are not really THAT slow (he can run by double tapping a direction). The semi-frequent fights may become repetitive to some, but honestly, the Final Fight fan in me enjoyed them.
And, besides, if you absolutely HATE the werehog levels, you only have to play them once. After encountering a stage, you are free to choose it again from the menu. So, feel free to replay those unlocked daytime stages exclusively. Even alone they’re worth the price of admission.
Bottom line: The game is fun. Colorful and energetic, while paced between high speed excitement and methodical exploration.
An impressive PS2 game. And, hopefully (if enough people give the game a try) this will be the first step towards Sonic’s long overdue rebirth.

Resistance 2 takes up right where the Resistance: Fall of Man left off. Hale is kidnapped by a black ops group in London and forced to Iceland for research testing. The full scope of what happens in Iceland is a mystery, but the game reveals that as Hale wrestles with the insidious Chimera war machine, he must also battle the virus raging inside his body that threatens to transform him into the very creature he fights against.
The Return of the Chimera
The Chimera are the main enemies of the Resistance franchise. For those new to the story, it is believed that the Chimera are of extraterrestrial origin. Yet, it is known that their army expands by infecting humans with a virus that transforms humans into Chimera while inside a cocoon. These creatures are much stronger than humans, and usually have multiple yellow eyes. They have remarkable healing abilities and thrive in very cold temperatures, which has led them to alter the Earth’s climate to a much lower temperature that better suits their habitat requirements.
Resistance 2 introduces several new Chimeran enemies with a host of new powers. A few new characters include the Chameleon, a creature that can cloak itself completely and kill a player in one, destructive blow, and the Grim which are a terrifying species that attack in hordes.
The Battle Moves to the United States
After the brief opening scenes in London and then Iceland, game play jumps ahead two years and across the globe to San Francisco. Giant, mile-long motherships slowly cruise through the skies demolishing the city with fiery beams. Burned and mangled, it appears that there will be little to no survivors. As the battle continues across the United States you’re sure to encounter many new, deranged, and much more powerful enemies.
In Chicago, you’ll be joined by a squad of soldiers all carrying different weapons. To survive and move through the level, you’ll need to work together moving from cover to cover, setting up your squad in a smart and defensive manner. These are just a few examples of the challenging levels you’ll encounter as you battle your way across the country to save mankind. And if you’re hoping for new weapons, Resistance 2 won’t leave you disappointed. The US-based campaign is loaded with tons of new weapons to enhance the overall game play and first-person shooter experience.
Online game play Goes BIG
Powered by Insomniac Games’ third-generation PlayStation 3 technology, Resistance 2 delivers several console gaming breakthroughs. Most impressive are the stand-alone, class-based, online co-operative campaign mode that can accommodate up to eight players, and the mind-blowing, 60-player, squad-based online competitive multiplayer battle fest. This unprecedented 60-player option could revolutionize online multiplayer game play, and is sure to provide countless hours of action-packed fun.
Collector’s Edition is Loaded with Extras
Resistance 2 Collector’s Edition is loaded with extras that are sure to impress even the most die-hard fans. This special collector’s edition comes with an exclusive 5.5-inch Chimera Hybrid action figure that’s packing a Bullseye weapon. The package also includes a double-sided Resistance art book that covers a war-torn America from two unique perspectives, and a bonus DVD that includes exclusive commentary, in-game HVAP Wraith multiplayer skin, a Behind the Scenes video, and lots more.
Resistance 2, set in the United States, is loaded with new weapons, enemies, and an unprecedented online gaming experience.

5 Stars WOW!!!!
This is a great set. Thank you Amazon for putting this on a Gold Box sale. If I had not found it there I would have never purchased it.
Thank You!!!
4 Stars Good sequel
The first Resistance was a killer launch title, and had it come out at the time the first Halo did it would’ve had a similar impact on console fps’ers in my opinion. Resistance 2 improves upon that game in just about every way. More action, a tighter, more focused campaign, excellent multiplayer modes, and some spectacular visuals. Sound has also been improved.
The couple areas where the game lacks are in visual consistency. The game has a much larger scope and scale to it compared to its predecessor, and maybe some blatant low res textures in the environment can be forgiven because of this. But they do stand out like a bit of an eye sore since the rest of the game looks so good. Cars are a good example, although this may be because they are destructible.
The other complaint is the story just doesn’t seem as compelling as the first, and doesn’t really pull the player in. It’s kinda just there because it has to be. I suppose it helps move the game along faster but I liked the narration of the first, and the characters seemed more interesting as a result.
All in all if you liked the first at all or are looking for a good shooter on PS3 you really can’t go wrong with this game. It’s the best shooter on the system so far by far.
5 Stars fast pace shooter
this sequel was better than the first on many levels. The main thing that you will notice when playing this game is that it has a fast pace with enemies swarming over your position. The improved AI makes the enemies more skillful with better fighting tactics. On several occasions you have to think of a better way to deal with the enemies then simply shooting them down since they always outnumber you. The story of course delves deeper into what the Chimera are and their possible history with some intersting twists. There are few changes that the game made such as limiting you to only 2 weapons and the omission of a few weapons from the previous game but this makes it again a game where you have to think more of tactics than simply aim and shoot. The only complaint I have is that your fellow soldiers do not act consistently. For some situations they are there with you killing the enemies and then for some others they just stand around or do not even follow you into the next area until you clear it out. Overall I highly recommend this game.
4 Stars great collector package
great collector bundle, r2 is as good as part 1, only cons i have for this is that i can’t pack all them weapons with me during battles as of resistance 1, damm, if it’s sci-fi already, why makes it realiistic that i could only handle 2 weapons at a time,, come on man!!
1 Star Resistance 2
Having been a big fan of Resistance: Fall of Man, I was very much looking forward ti the next installment of the series. Boy, was I very much disappointed. As far as the story goes, it picks up right where the first one left off, then jumps 2 years ahead. The story just seems to want to just jump around, show us nice locations without any real meaning for why I’m there except to just kill this bad guy. The gun play feels worse than the first one, the graphics are improved over the first, but still not as good as they probably could be. and it just lacks one essential element that made the first game, or any video game for that matter, worth playing. and that is FUN. the game just isn’t any fun. and Sony and Insomniac did some wrong things by releasing certain footage of the game. it made those moments not so dramatic when they occurred. and the boss battles are just kinda lame. they are easy and just kinda….end with not real “oh wow, i cant believe i just got through that” factor. If you want a FPS, this, for me, isn’t the one to get. but if your interested in the continuing struggles of Nathan Hale and humanity, go ahead, pick this one up, but i suggest just getting the regular edition.

Fallout 3

For 200 years, Vault 101, a fallout shelter, has served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants. Yet one morning, you awake to find that your father has left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you’ve ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father. Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) that combines the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda.

4 Stars Pretty Good.
I like role playing games and first person shooters and this game has a combo of both. Its pretty nice, and has a good storyline as well. The VAT system is pretty cool too but my only gripe is the graphics could have been a little better and if you played COD World at War you can understand where Im coming from. This game was definitely made for those P.C. Geek type kids-you can tell.
2 Stars Fun game when it works
In all honesty I can’t recommend this game to PS3 owners. Fallout 3 is a huge and complex game. While this may sound appealing at first you have to consider the flip side to that statement. The more complex a game is the more that can go wrong with it…and boy do a lot of things go wrong in this game. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to start over due to various glitches.
Between random game freezes, NPC’s just up and disappearing, clipping through the world itself, reports of PS3s actually becoming bricked, and Bethesda’s complete lack of support (Downloadable content exclusive to Microsoft Windows and 360. No ETA of any patch whatsoever) I very much regret ever purchasing this game.
5 Stars Awesome Game and Really Fast Shipping!!!
Fast review, I have been viewing this item for as long as 3 weeks and when I saw this item drop $12 to $45 from original price of $60, I knew I had to get it now.
The game, Fallout 3 is an excellent Shooter RPG, its like the baby that came out from Bioshock and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It exceeded all my expectations of the game and is my most favorite game this year.
Shipping was great with the Free Super Saver Shipping by Amazon. It surprisingly only took a day to ship to me and I was really shocked by that.
This game is a must have if you have a PS3 and don’t know what to get other than Metal Gear Solid 4 (I have already). From what I’m told, this game will last you at least over 100 hours of gameplay.
Only dumb thing was that the UPS truck delivery guy gave my game package to my next door neighboors because it was late and dark outside and didn’t see my house number, mixing it up by one house, but I luckily retreived it from my neighbors and enjoyed the game for the rest of the night.
5 Stars game of the year 2008
this game is playable as a 3rd person shooter but don’t bother. 1st person is your best choice to play the game. the level and depth of the wasteland is incredibly huge. you also have many choices to completing your own path. as of the time i have written this review i have not completed the game but its very addicting none the less. get this game and you will not be disapointed.
5 Stars Simply Amazing
I’ve been waiting my whole life for a game like this.
Fallout 3 is the most engrossing game I’ve ever played in my life. The thought process I have playing this game, is much the same as the thought process you character would have. You are learning, and growing right along with your character, and your moral choices are often based on need and desire, as in real life.
Almost every choice you make in this game effects how others treat you, and the opportunities life presents you. You gain and lose Karma, learn and hone skills, and explore a world that does not seem so far from our own.
There are some flaws. The perspective (1st or 3rd) are both poor. If you get motion sick very easy, then this may not be the game for you. You are constantly managing items you pick up because you can only carry so much (like in real life).
I can forgive the glitches, and accept them as personality to the game. It is beautiful, in a ghastly, scared out of my mind sort of way. This is one of the best games I have every played, and will probably absorb at least 60 hours of my life. Please give it a try if you are on the fence. The price cannot be beat.

5 Stars They weren’t exaggerating
This game is visually stunning and a lot of fun to play. The scenery and game play is unrivaled. Only complaint is no multiplayer. I would love to play as that little robot. Maybe for the sequal.
5 Stars Realy, Really Fun!
This game seems to be about smashing lots of baddies and or blowing them up in cool ways. My wife likes to watch me play it. Graphics are really great and while I’m not really into platform-ish games I can see playing this one more than once.
One of the great games for the PS3. They really should bundle this game with the PS3, it’s that good!
5 Stars Rememeber this genre?
This game is phenomenal. I could really end it right there, but it deserves so much more. Like the other games in the franchise, it contains some of the most likable characters in the gaming world. Actually, it’s hard to find an aspect of this game that isn’t polished to a shine. The voice work is great, the writing is great, the visuals, controls, gameplay, atmosphere, sound, everything is great! If you’re a little tired of the crazy amount of music and first person shooter games out on the PS3 and 360, absolutely give this one a try. I’ve yet to meet anyone who regrets picking it up.
I have yet to be dissatisfied with a game developed by Insomniac Games.
5 Stars FANTASTIC GAME FOR KIDS
We purchased this game for my Son. This has to be the best game for kids out there. Many of the games out have bad language and violence. This game is perfect and has no foul langauge whatsoever. The graphics are great and there are many exciting worlds to navigate. This game kept my Son and Daughter interested for many many hours. Even after you beat the game there are new options unlocked that make it even funner to play all over again. I even liked playing this game and I am 29. I highly recommend this for your kids, you will not regret it. I give it five stars but would give it ten if I could.
5 Stars Best PS3 game i have ever played-SUWEET!
This game’s graphics are top notch, easy learning curve, very enjoyable and so many levels to explore. honestly one of the best games i’ve ever played, my nephew who is 7 also loved it. I’m 39, so it’s great for young and not so young.
